In today's science, high technology and job market especially computer and computer network technology play an important role. In the same way as personal computers appear in more and more everyday applications and as data networks are used in a wide range, new forms of labour and research are implemented with the aid of modern technology. Due to this fact, is is an essential experience to obtain high-level English skills and to experience other educational and scientific systems to be able to understand other people's views when cooperating in an international team.
As the United States are one of the world's leading research nations as well as the country where the personal computer was invented and network applications influencing the future of us all are currently developed with national priority, studies in Missouri will enrich my view of Computer Science and my experiences according to modern research. According to my interest in computer networks I was satisfied to find lectures about them in Missouri's list of lectures as part of the graduate studies. Furthermore I was able to obtain information about the campus and studies from the Missouri university information systems connected to the Internet. This way I convinced myself that Missouri is worth a stay.
Because I'm involved in my universities administration as a students representative I'm curious about the way American universities are organized. Hopefully this will enable me to return to Saarbrücken with new ideas for my work in fields of students interests as a result of comparing both systems to each other.
Furthermore I expect insights into american culture, society and the legendary 'American Way of Life'. Another effect of a year's residence outside my home country might be to see Germany through the eyes of American people to give me a better understanding of politics between Germany and the Unites States as well as of the Unites States politics all over the world.
Finally, being for oneself in a foreign culture far away from friends and family is a challenge and an important experience valuable for my personal development.
